Lawsuits do more than protect the rights of victims.
Often, they can lead to changes that improve safety
for us all. That's exactly what needs to happen with
medication fulfillment. One of our cases involved
a man who nearly died when he was given a poisonous
compound, liquid glass, instead of the medicine he
needed. Our lawsuit against this major pharmacy chain
also revealed that they had made nearly 77,000 medication
errors last year alone. This case and our client's
plea for the pharmacy chain to adopt a zero-tolerance
policy on medication errors helped reveal the problems
to the public. Frankly, we think anything less
than 100% pharmacy accuracy isn't good enough. Perry & Haas continues to work toward all pharmacies
adopting a policy that eliminates - not
minimizes - medication
errors. Be sure to ask your pharmacy if they have
a zero-tolerance policy on all medications they fill.
